Kidlington is a well-established event in the English tournament calendar with a seasoned team of experienced controllers and a friendly atmosphere. Last February we again we attracted a large attendance, and we reached the maximum number of entrants our venue, Exeter Hall, can accommodate (192) on the Monday before the tournament.
Our 42nd annual tournament will also take place at Exeter Hall, Kidlington, on Saturday & Sunday 2 & 3 February, 2019. We shall again have four sections, Open, U180, U145 and U120. The prize fund will be over £2200, including four new £40 prizes: an Under-130 grading prize in the U145 section, an extra Veterans’ Prize in the U180 section and two new prizes for Juniors in the U120 and U145 sections.
As in the last two years, the Open section will incorporate the second leg of the 2018-19 Oxfordshire Individual Championship. Its first leg was incorporated in the Open section at the Witney Chess Congress held on 3 & 4 November 2018.
The latest information about next February’s tournament can be found via the ‘News and Updates’ tab. Entry forms can be found under the Kidlington 2019 tab. You may either use the online entry form there or, if you prefer, you may download and print out a form from there to send in your entry by post.
